The TIDG has been developed to complement two existing California Department of Education (CDE) documents the Education Technology Planning Guide and the K-12 Network Technology Planning Guide. This guide's purpose is to provide K-12 technology leaders with a comprehensive resource for use in developing the technology infrastructure needed in their school or district.
The scope of this document is comprehensive in that it is intended to address all those tasks necessary in carrying out school district technology plans. This guide will define processes, approaches, methods, tools, and resources that can be used to organize, plan, manage, develop, deploy and support the systems needed by your schools. It is the first such guide and is intended to be a living document to be updated and revised as time passes to stay current with both technology and the needs of districts. To this end, it addresses:
-
Systems Management - Planning and Activities
-
Technology Resources Support Organization - Development and Maintenance
-
Systems Analysis - Requirements Definition & Concept Selection
-
Information Systems Engineering - Designing Systems to Requirements
-
System Procurement and Evaluation - Approaches and Process
-
System Deployment - Getting System Into Production Use
-
System Production Use - Operating & Maintaining
